Frequently Asked Questions

Can someone visit campus?

Yes! We welcome you to visit our campus. Tours can be set up by calling (573) 633-5610. HCC also hosts students during special Preview Days where we set aside time to have potential students tour the campus and meet the faculty.

What programs do you offer?
Heartland Christian College offers a two-year Associate Degree in Biblical Studies. Students may choose an area of concentration in Education, Missions, Worship Arts, or Interdisciplinary Studies.
Where is HCC located?
Heartland Christian College is located in northeast Missouri, four miles south of Newark. This rural setting is a place of rolling hills and family farmland. The College is an integral part of a Christian community called Heartland, which includes several businesses and a K-12 school. For more information on Heartland visit the web site at heartland-ministries.org.
Why choose HCC?
Heartland Christian College gives you two years to establish a foundation based on the Word of God and to hear Him as to what your next step in life should be. Our rural community-based setting minimizes distractions and makes this a peaceful place to know God in a deeper way. In addition, HCC offers a teacher/student ratio of approximately 4 to 1. You will know your instructors and they will know you. You will not merely be a number in a computer, rather you will be trained as a disciple whose life is important.
Can I transfer credits?

HCC students who wish to transfer course credit to HCC from another institution of higher education are encouraged to submit an Application for Transfer Credit, available from the HCC Office. The application will be reviewed for eligible transfer credits. No high school courses will be considered for transfer credits.

It is the responsibility of each applicant to request such transcripts to be sent to HCC. Applicant transcripts from another institution of higher learning are reviewed by the Academic Team upon receipt by Heartland Christian College.

HCC has a matriculation agreement with Central Christian College of the Bible and St. Louis Christian College. Liberty University accepts nearly all of HCC’s credits and various other universities have accepted a limited number of credits from HCC graduates. If you are interested in transferring credits to another institution, please contact the HCC office for further details or fill out a Transcript Request Form.

What are the costs for HCC?
HCC operates on a semester basis, with summer block courses available. The tuition, fees, and room and board per semester are approximately $2000 for full time students. Books and supplies required are an additional expense.
What type of financial aid or scholarships are available?

HCC has a Micro Grant Program available for domestic students facing financial hardships that may need financial help in order to continue with their education at HCC. For more information contact the Financial Aid Officer.

Can I work to pay my bill?

Students are welcomed and encouraged to apply for jobs in the local community (only 3-4 student jobs are available at the college per year). Students with jobs may set up a payment plan to pay their bill throughout the semester. For more information on student work hours see our Student Handbook.

Are you accredited?
Heartland Christian College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education to grant certificates and degrees at the Associate level.
What are your admission requirements?
Students wishing to enroll in HCC must have successfully completed high school or the high school equivalency examination (GED), submit a completed application, submit ACT or SAT scores, submit a brief testimony, and have an interview with a member of the academic team. Students under the age of 18 must also have parental approval.
What is your minimum ACT score requirement?
At this time, HCC does not have a specific ACT score that is required for acceptance, however, completion of the ACT is required for full acceptance. HCC’s ACT school code is 2354. This code can be used on the ACT registration form when students are registering for the ACT test, and test scores will be sent directly to the college.

What is a Pastoral Reference Questionnaire?
Each student applying to HCC is required to have a pastor or leader fill out this questionnaire. The pastor or leader should be someone that is somewhat involved in your life and could answer questions regarding your spiritual life. It is asked that this person not be a relative. Students are to sign the form and then give it to their pastor/leader. The pastor/leader should then complete the questionnaire to the best of their ability and return it directly to the college.

What is a Pre-Admission Interview?
A pre-admission interview is conducted after all other application information is received. This interview will be set up with an HCC college representative in your region. It is preferred that this interview is completed in person, but it is possible to do a phone interview if meeting in person is not possible. The interviewer will ask the student questions regarding their church, personal, and job-related experiences. The interviewer will then make a recommendation to HCC Administration for or against acceptance. Contact the Admissions Office to find a college representative in your region.

What is required in the personal testimony?
A student’s personal testimony should be a brief account of the student’s salvation experience and journey as a Christian since that time. A statement regarding the student’s desire and reason for wanting to attend HCC is also encouraged. One page is sufficient, and a typed testimony is preferred.
